We keep the team small (less than 20 employees, and less than 100 affiliates), but it's one of the surest ways that we can maintain consistent quality. PM's are only assigned to 1 to 3 projects at a time, and in different lifecycle phases to reduce critical event conflicts.
Information Security is a key component of all of our projects. Too many times, Information Security is considered last or not-at-all leaving organizations in a vulnerable state. Our baselines include security, as well as our requirements process and exit criteria.
Tools. Projects are temporary endeavors with potentially long-lived artifacts.
Our customers don't need the addtional burden of hosting the tools for project management, or the tedium of building out PMO within the company.
We use tools that are common in the PM world for IT projects and host all of the artifacts while providing access to stakeholders. Project information may be archived for 1, 3, or 7 years as policy regulation dictates.
